WHAT SHOULD I WEAR?
When in doubt, neutrals are great. They photograph well with any setting. Bright colors and patterns can be fun, just remember that with multiple people a lot of loud colors or patterns can compete with each other too much. Avoid things that don't stay in place on your body well. Maybe don't wear the jeans that are constantly falling down or the skirt that is so short you can't sit in it. Off the shoulder tops can be tricky as well. They tend to lay funny and it can be hard to make sure they are sitting evenly on your shoulders.
Seniors: I absolutely love to see your individual style. Wear the red stripe jumpsuit or the Adidas windbreaker. Senior photos are meant to capture you, as a senior, the year you graduate. Show off your best looks! You will love looking back on your photos and seeing what trendy styles you were into. When all else fails, go classic. Wear something you wear all the time or something you've loved for years. Bring your favorite hoodie or your coziest sweater.
Branding: I feel like people assume that a headshot needs to be super formal, which just isn't the case at all. Think about what you want your headshot or branding session to tell about you and your business/company. Do you partner for a major law firm? If so, you may want to consider a a nice blazer, as you probably want to come off as strong, composed, and professional. If you're a DJ however you might want to show up in jeans and a graphic tee to show how well you keep up with the trends and give people an idea of your personality.
Lifestyle: Lifestyle sessions are so fun because literally anything goes. Some of my favorite in-home lifestyle session have been of families at home in their PJs. For in home sessions I definitely recommend wearing something comfy, cozy, and lived in. The point is to depict your everyday life. An outdoor lifestyle session can be anything you want it to. Wear your favorite dress, put an outfit together that's a little wild, or wear your most lived in jeans.
HOW DO I DOWNLOAD & ORDER MY PRINTS ?
I include step-by-step downloading and print ordering instructions in every client's SmugMug folder. If you are having a hard time with either of these processes reference the instruction guides. Send me an email if problems still persist.
WHY CAN'T I GET INTO MY SMUGMUG FOLDER? WHAT IF I LOST/ FORGOT MY PASSWORD OR MY PASSWORD ISN'T WORKING?
If for some reason you misplace or forget your password or if the password I gave you isn't working don't hesitate to shoot me a text or an email. I will either resend you your previous password or create a new one. If your password isn't working I will reset your folder or password.
CAN I HAVE UNEDITED VERSIONS OF THESE PHOTOS?
Unfortunately the answer is always a solid no. I shoot my photos in a RAW format which requires at least some editing and a transfer to JPEG. Also, if you book a session with me I would hope it is because you appreciate my individual style as a creative and editing a big part of my artwork.
WHAT IF I MISPLACED THE LINK TO MY SMUGMUG FOLDER?
If you misplace your SmugMug link don't fret! Just shoot me a text or an email and I will resend you the link and password in a flash. However, I definitely recommend copying your link and password into a document on you computer or device, favoriting your link, or writing it down somewhere.
AFTER WE SHOOT, HOW DOES THIS WORK?
After we physically take the photos you might be wondering what happens next. First I get really exciting to edit pictures of my newest friend(s). So, within a day or two I edit 3-5 preview shots to tide you (and me) over until I get to your session. I will send you a link and password to a SmugMug folder with 3+ galleries in it. One will be a gallery of final edits which will include your preview shots, one will be your release form, and one will include downloading and print ordering instructions. I will then edit the rest of your photos within 3 weeks for portrait/branding sessions and 6 weeks for weddings. With the exception of weddings, blogs, and rush orders I edit photos in the order that I complete the sessions. I will notify you when your lovelies are all ready for you!
WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A DIGITAL AND A PRINT RELEASE? WHY DO I HAVE TO PAY FOR A PRINT RELEASE?
I offer two types of photo releases. The first type is a digital release. This release is included in every Plum Portraits photo session. This release gives you full rights to the digital copies of your photos. They are yours to do what you please with! Post them on your social media, text them to your friends, set them as your screensaver. But always, always, always be sure to download digitals, NEVER screenshot. The second type of release is a print release. This release does NOT come with any Plum Portraits session with the exception of weddings and other contracted shoots. The print release costs $100 and allows you to not only own and have full rights to the digital versions of your photos, but print as well. You may order/make prints of your photos anywhere you please. Walmart, CVS, Shutterfly, your own home, anywhere you'd like. Without the print release you MUST order prints through Plum Portraits via your SmugMug folder. Please make friends and family aware of this policy as well.
WILL PLUM PORTRAITS SHARE MY PHOTOS ON SOCIAL MEDIA WITHOUT MY KNOWLEDGE/CONSENT?
Never. I LOVE to share my work and gush about my lovely clients on my social media pages, but never without asking permission first. I always ask clients during or after their session if they are okay with me sharing their photos and then have them sign a photo release form if so.
